City boots longtime vendor from Yonge & Dundas

After more than two decades of selling flags and trinkets at Yonge and Dundas, vendor Harold Garnett is getting the boot from city officials who say his cart is a public health and safety concern.

Garnett was stripped of his vendor's licence after he and others were asked, earlier this month, to temporarily vacate the area for an NHL event in Yonge-Dundas Square.

The city says the process of moving the cart made it clear Garnett had been living in it.

The city says it's illegal for Garnett to live in his cart and is doing him a favour by getting him off the street. Others aren't so sure.
