A group of men threatened multiple students at York University in what police are calling three “separate, but apparently related” incidents, two of which involved guns, on Saturday.

The confrontations all occurred within a half-hour window, between 7:15 and 7:40 p.m. In the first incident, a student was approached by two male suspects near the Petrie Science and Engineering Building, who threatened the victim but did not take any property or harm him, York Security Services said.

The second occurred shortly after at 7:30 p.m. when a student was asked by two suspects for the time outside the Steacie Science and Engineering Library. Five male suspects then approached the victim from behind, two of whom had hand guns, YSS said. The group of suspects did not steal any property or harm the victim.

The last incident happened near the Chemistry Building, where a lone male victim was approached by five or six male suspects – one with a hand gun – and stole his cell phone and searched his pockets.

York Security Services are currently working with Toronto police to identify the suspects, who were described as males between the ages of 14 and 24. No other details were immediately available.
