Environment Canada is warning that strong, potentially damaging winds could develop later this evening when a low pressure system over the Pacific Ocean approaches the South Coast.

The national weather forecaster says strong southeast winds of 70 to 80 km/h could develop over Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands ahead of the low.

Winds are expected to ease overnight as the low pressure system moves into the Interior.

Reports of severe weather can be emailed to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca.
