#OttawaStrong: Canada Shows Its Support For Our Nation's Capital

In the midst of the tragedy unfolding on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Wednesday, small sparks of hope were seen across social media.

After an unnamed Canadian soldier was shot and killed at the National War Memorial, parliamentary buildings and many businesses in downtown Ottawa were locked down as police searched for suspects.

One gunman was reportedly shot and killed by Kevin Vickers, sergeant-at-arms of the House of Commons, inside Parliament.

As Canadians watched in shock, people began uniting under one hashtag: #OttawaStrong. Much as the people of Boston came together after the horrific marathon bombing in 2013, this unifying link is serving to remind Canadians — both here and abroad — of what we all stand for.
