The ceremonial guard at the National War Memorial will be reinstated this afternoon for the first time since Cpl. Nathan Cirillo was shot and killed on Wednesday morning.

The first two sentries, who are expected on duty at about 1:45 p.m. ET, will be Cpl. Daniel Germaine and Cpl. Mark Daigle,

Both are from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment.

Germaine and Daigle are also veterans of the war in Afghanistan.

Members of the guard have already arrived at the National War Memorial.

The sentries will be resuming their posts as Cirillo's body is escorted by police to his home in Hamilton, Ont.
