Let's talk about sleeveless coats a.k.a. waistcoats. Given our current obsession with menswear, it's no wonder that we’re loving this deconstructed modern look borrowed from the boys.

Good news: there’s still time to try this trend before heavy duty sleeves become necessary (thanks a lot, winter). The updated waistcoat makes for the perfect layering piece on a cool fall day.

Sleeves are overrated anyways.

Sleeveless Coats

Isabel Marant Sleeves Coat, $846.41

This could be the most stylish, well-tailored burlap sack we’ve ever seen. Isabel Marant offers up this sleeveless coat in a beige wool and comes with a dainty leather belt.

BLQ Basiq Victoria Sleeveless Coat – Lime, $155.31

As the product description reads, “kind of cold but not really?” October is really the month of in-between weather and a sleeveless coat is just the solution. Be the one wearing a pop of bright lime green when everyone else is wearing black and grey.

All Saints Sleeveless Leather Gilet, $630

It's not exactly a waistcoat but it's close enough. All Saints is the brand behind this tough as nails leather lambskin gilet that’ll add a little edge to any outfit.

Charlie May Sleeveless Duster Coat, $741.69

Make a statement with a little winter white. This white bonded mesh cotton duster coat from Charlie May will forever be in style thanks to its classic and flattering shape.

Karen Millen Sleeveless Wool Coat, $475

You’ll always exude effortless chic if you add this Karen Millen sleeveless wool coat in grey to your wardrobe. Act fast though, as this style is a limited edition.

JOA Sleeveless Coat, $150.73

If you liked our previous grey waistcoat but find the price tag a little steep, Revolve Clothing has a more affordable option for you. Their JOA sleeveless coat is slightly boxier with a flip up belted collar.

All Saints Hestia Sleeveless Trench Coat, $540

If you’re the quintessential slouchy style girl, you’ll appreciate this less structured approach to a sleeveless trench coat by All Saints. It’s still clean and minimalist while maintaining a low maintenance boho aesthetic.

H&M Fur Waistcoat in Dark Blue, $69.95

Are you a Muppet or a (wo)man? Okay, perhaps you didn't understand our pop culture joke but we still really loved H&M’s fuzzy waistcoat in dark blue.

Nasty Gal Fall Off Sleeveless Coat, $132.80

Plaid is always a necessary pattern come fall and winter. This oversized waistcoat is great for layering multiple pieces. If it gets extra nippy out, layer a leather moto jacket underneath and let the collar peek out.

Ermanno Scervino Padded Sleeveless Coat, $1,547.73

A down puffer coat sans sleeves is a bit of a contradiction. We can see it being too hot to wear on a mild fall day but the lack of sleeves makes it insufficient for a frostier one. However, we can’t help but love the idea of a designer puff waistcoat such as this one by Ermanno Scervino.

H&M Fake Fur Waistcoat, $79.95

This tiered waistcoat from H&M reminds us of a very generously frosted carrot cake. And yes, we would be more than happy to take fashion cues from a delicious dessert.

DSquared2 Double Breasted Sleeveless Coat, $1690.72

Canadian design duo DSquared2 offer a unique take on the classic peacoat with this sleeveless version. The large dramatic flap pockets and asymmetrical design make it a standout piece in your outerwear collection.

Club Monaco Sleeveless Trench, $795

It’s all in the details with Club Monaco’s Prue Sleeveless trench. We love the high-low hem and a little twirl reveals a surprise leather storm-flap back.

St. John Collection Sleeveless Milano Maxi Vest, $1,406.25

A sleeveless version of the trendiest trend this fall—the robe coat—exists! You’ll look timeless in this caviar wrap front coat from iconic American label St. John.

Zara ‘Hand Made’ Long Waistcoat, $199

For a ltress structured option, Zara offers the perfect boho style waistcoat with an asymmetrical curved hem and dramatic collar.
