Nathan Cirillo Paid Stunning Tribute In Hometown Of Hamilton (TWEETS)

LOOK: Stunning Tribute Paid In Nathan Cirillo's Hometown

As the nation seeks to heal from Wednesday's tragic shooting in Ottawa that took the life of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, one of the toughest journeys will be that of the soldier's hometown of Hamilton.

Cirillo made his final voyage home Friday, while Canadians parked along the Highway of Heroes waved flags and saluted the 24-year-old. According to the Hamilton Spectator, hundreds also watched at Hamilton's city hall as the motorcade carrying Cirillo's body made its way to the funeral home at night.

In a breathtaking tribute to Cirillo’s extraordinary service to the nation, the Canadian Heroes Foundation draped a Canadian flag over a brightly lit Albion Falls, one of the Hamilton’s most well-known landmarks, on Friday night. The tribute also honoured fallen Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent.

A funeral will be held for Cirillo on Tuesday.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated the tribute was paid by the city of Hamilton. It was actually the Canadian Heroes Foundation.
