Stephen Mandel wins Edmonton-Whitemud

CBC is projecting a win for Progressive Conservative Stephen Mandel in Edmonton-Whitemud byelection, with the former mayor holding a comfortable lead in the race.

At the time of the announcement just before 9 p.m., Mandel had more than double the votes of the second-place NDP candidate Dr. Bob Turner with 43 out of 95 polls reporting.

Turner called to congratulate Mandel and noted his party doubled its support in the riding, which has been long seen as a PC stronghold.
