2 suspects sought in multiple gas-and-dash thefts

York Regional Police are trying to track down two suspects they allege have been filling up vehicles and fleeing gas stations without paying for nearly two years.

The pair of suspects are accused of hitting several gas stations last year, as well as 10 more since February of this year.

"In one of the surveillance videos that we have released, the suspect very nonchalantly just walks up, gasses up with the car, he actually takes the time to clean the windshield and then just simply drives away," Const. Andy Pattenden said Wednesday, when describing the alleged crimes.

Pattenden said the suspects have used stolen licence plates, which has made it harder for police to catch up with them.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects is asked to contact police at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7441, or to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
