Police have arrested a Brantford-area man in connection with a number of vehicle thefts from GO Transit lots in Durham region.

Police say nine vehicles were reported stolen, and two more were damaged during attempted thefts, in GO parking lots in Pickering, Whitby and Oshawa between Sept. 3 and Oct. 15. Chevy and GMC pickups from the late '90s and early 2000s were targeted.

Surveillance video led to the identification of a suspect, police said.

Eugene White, 41, of Oshweken, Ont. was arrested on Oct. 23 upon arriving at the Pickering GO lot on a train. He faces multiple counts of charges including including motor vehicle theft. White was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing. Durham Regional Police say they are trying to determine if all the thefts are related.
