Former bandmates of ex-CBC host Jian Ghomeshi have broken their silence about abuse and harassment allegations against the former radio personality.

“As former colleagues of Jian (our last show was in 2000), we are sickened and saddened by this week’s news. We had no inkling that Jian engaged in this type of behaviour,” read the joint statement on Friday.

“We abhor the idea of a sexual relationship of any sort being entered into without full consent from both parties and condemn violence against women in any form. We wish only health and healing to everyone involved.

“We have no further comment on this matter at this time.” The statement was signed by former Moxy Fruvous members Mike Ford, Murray Foster, and David Matheson.

Shortly before the band spoke out, talent management firm The Agency Group Ltd. distanced themselves from Ghomeshi, confirming in a statement they no longer represent him.

Established in 1981, the talent group describes itself as the largest independent music agency in the world with offices in seven cities including Toronto, Los Angeles, and London. They currently represent over 2,000 clients.

On Thursday, Toronto-based crisis management firm Navigator Ltd. announced it dropped the scandal-plagued former “Q” host as a client. Public relations company Rock-It Promotions confirmed it severed its ties with Ghomeshi as well.

Earlier in the week, the CBC cut ties with Ghomeshi shortly after the Toronto Star published a story with multiple women claiming sexual assault and workplace harassment allegations against the “Q” host.

According to The Globe and Mail, Ghomeshi sat down with with his lawyer and former bosses on Oct. 23 to show them evidence his sexual acts of women had been consensual and non-abusive. However, his employers were “taken aback.”

The following day, Ghomeshi announced he was taking an “undetermined” amount of time off to handle “some personal issues.” By Sunday, the CBC formally announced the radio host’s termination.

Counsellors have been hired by the CBC in wake of the scandal and outside investigators has been retained to probe allegations of workplace harassment.

Nine women have so far come forward with claims of abuse and harassment.
