Shots fired as all-night manhunt in St. Michel ends in arrest

Montreal police have arrested one man in an exchange of gunfire, after an all-night manhunt in the St. Michel Borough that involved a Sûreté du Québec helicopter, the canine unit and dozens of officers.

The was arrested at 7:45 a.m. EST this morning.

The man in his 20s took off into the woods near the Old Miron Quarry during a police investigation that began at around 1 a.m.

Four other men - also in their 20s - were arrested earlier this morning in the course of the police investigation.

Gunshots were exchanged as the fifth suspect was arrested, but no one was injured.
