Today at 11 a.m. the Amalgamated Transit Union, which represents TTC workers, will release a report that looks at ways to improve transit in the city. They say it will be a comprehensive, costed plan.
Union president Bob Kinnear is also expected to comment on the feasibility of mayor-elect John Tory's transit plan. That plan formed the centrepiece of Tory's mayoral campaign and calls for the construction of 52 kilometres of surface rail, mainly along existing GO Transit routes.
It's believed the report will call for 250 more buses and more city money for the TTC.
We are also expected to learn more today about Sunday's crash involving a TTC bus that killed one person and sent the bus through the front doors of a bank in North Etobicoke.
TTC CEO Andy Byford will be on CBC Radio's Metro Morning at 8:13 a.m. ET to talk about both the report and Sunday's bus crash. If you're in Toronto, you can tune in on 99.1 FM or listen to our live stream here.
