ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE, Alta. - Three people have been killed and two others injured in an accident on a slippery highway in central Alberta.

RCMP say the driver of a west-bound pickup truck appears to have lost control and crossed into the path of an east-bound truck near Rocky Mountain House.

Police say the two occupants of the west-bound vehicle, as well as the driver of the other truck, died at the scene.

Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say the highway was very icy due to recent snow fall, cold temperatures and wind gusts.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to have been factors.

No names have been released.
