Homeless Selfies Are As Horrible As You Might Imagine

Why not celebrate the yawning chasm between the haves and have-nots with a selfie?

Well, because it would make you a horrible human being.

But since when has that ever stopped the self-smothering hordes of youth from taking up a dubious trend with gleeful abandon?

Enter the homeless selfie.

Exit humanity.

Social media is abuzz with images of grinning fools taking pictures of themselves alongside bundles of despair.

Have a look at these exhibits culled from Twitter:

Of course, being humiliated over the internet wouldn't be the first degradation homeless people have endured -- particularly in a society that has hunted them for sport, set them on fire and simply pretended they don't exist.

But if a photograph does indeed say a thousand words, the homeless selfie reads like a very long, bleak indictment of our times.
