Montreal police are looking for four suspects who robbed a Birks jewellery store at the Fairview Pointe Claire shopping mall.

Police say four masked men went into the store at 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

They smashed the jewellery cases using hammers, grabbed merchandise, and then sprayed people in the store before fleeing on foot.

Police Const. Simon Delorme says investigators are asking for help from the public to identify the suspects.

"There's many witnesses to meet and if anyone saw something special or have taken some pictures of the scene they can call the police station nearby," said Delorme.

Delorme said people with information can also call the police Info-Crime line.

The value of the stolen jewellery is not yet known.
