Granville Island market's The Salmon Shop mysteriously closes

11/14/2014 10:02 EST | Updated 01/14/2015 05:59 EST
It looks almost like some kind of Victorian mourning shroud: dark curtains are draped over the Granville Island Public Market stall where The Salmon Shop operated for 32 years, up until very recently.

Regular customers and neighbouring vendors arrived one morning to find the fishmonger closed, without warning.

A posted handwritten note doesn't explain what happened, but does offer up heartfelt appreciation for years of loyalty and support.
