Man charged in Aurora poppy box theft

York Regional Police have arrested a man in connection with a theft from a poppy collection box at a Canadian Tire store in Aurora, Ont.

A 50-year-old Bradford, Ont., man is charged with theft under $5,000. Police say that on Nov. 7, security camera images captured a man entering the store located at 14700 Yonge St. Police say the man was dropped off outside the store by a red Chevrolet Aveo or Pontiac Vibe with a missing front hubcap. 

"The suspect entered the store and walked to an unattended cash register where he picked up the poppy donation box, concealed it beneath his coat and exited the store," a police news release said.

Then man charged is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket, Ont., on Dec. 23.
