The incident happened around 11:17 a.m. The tractor-trailer was taking the Burlington Street ramp to get on the Toronto-bound QEW when it failed to negotiate the curve and rolled over onto its side, police say. Scrap metals were spilled onto Van Wagner Beach Road, which is below the highway.
The truck driver wasn't injured, according to police.
A motorcyclist travelling on Van Wagner Beach Road spotted the falling debris, fell off his bike and slid across the road but was uninjured, police say. The motorcycle crashed into the debris.
The Burlington Street ramp to Toronto-bound QEW and Van Wagner Beach Road. It is unclear when they would be reopened, but it will likely "be a while," said Staff Sgt. Marco DelConte of Hamilton police.
The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the rollover, while Hamilton police are assisting them with road closures.
