After postponing tour dates in September due to "an acute viral infection," Cher has now been forced to cancel the rest of her "Dressed To Kill" tour as the 68-year-old has not yet recovered

There were 28 remaining dates on the North American tour, but doctor's have told her to stay off the road because the infection has "affected her kidney function."

The iconic singer released a statement on her website that said: "I am totally devastated. Nothing like this has ever happened to me. I cannot apologize enough to all the fans who bought tickets. I'm so proud of this show. It is my best ever. I sincerely hope we can come back again next year and finish what we started."

She also addressed the cancellation via twitter.

The "Dressed to Kill" tour launched in May to considerable acclaim for both her performance and her costumes, which included many of her most famous fashion statements from over years, even the racy one from her "If I Could Turn Back Time" music video.
