Lots to celebrate
It was a big night for the Vancouver Canucks. They claimed a 4-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks, but the team was celebrating before the puck even dropped.
Daniel Sedin had a milestone night, as he played in his 1000th NHL game. The Canucks put together a touching tribute video to honour the forwards career with the franchise.
There must have been some magic left over after the ceremony, because another career Canuck had a milestone of his own. Jannik Hansen earned his first career hat trick.
The forward scored Vancouver's first and second goals before ending the game with an empty netter.- Can't view on mobile? Watch here.
The Winnipeg Jets fell late to the visiting St. Louis Blues 4-2. Two Winnipeg natives factored heavily into the Jets loss.
Sunday's afternoon matchup was all tied up heading into the third period. The tie wouldn't last long. Ryan Reaves scored the game-winner on the power play to put the Blues ahead 3-2.
It was a big hometown moment for the 27-year-old Winnipeg native. The goal marked the forward's third of the year. He doesn't score often, as it was his 14th career NHL goal.- Can't view on mobile? Watch here.
Reaves wasn't the only hometown boy that contributed to the victory. Alex Steen had an assist on each of the first two Blues' goals.
Hot or cold
The Montreal Canadiens continued a strange pattern with a 5-0 loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. Despite having the best record in the league (16-6-1) and winning eight of their past nine, the team has made a curious habit of getting blown out in their losses.
The one exception was a 3-2 overtime loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 30. In their six regulation losses this season, they've been outscored 30-3, and shutout four times.
When they lose, they do it in sensational fashion.- Can't view on mobile? See Tweet here.
The Rangers outplayed the Habs from start to finish. Rangers forward Martin St. Louis got one step closer to his 1000th NHL point when he picked the pocket of Alexei Emelin to register his 998th point, and eighth goal of the season.- Can't view on mobile? Watch here. Suggest a correction
