Toronto Hydro is reporting multiple power outages across the city Monday morning.
According to the utility's website, there are ongoing outages in Etobicoke and North York.
A spokesperson for Toronto Hydro told CBC News that the Etobicoke outage was caused by an equipment failure at the station level, and that power in some areas has already been restored since about 7:50 a.m., when the first outages were reported.
Tens of thousands of people were initially affected, but currently there are about 300 homes without power in Etobicoke.
Toronto Hydro was uncertain about what caused the outage in North York, but said it may have occurred as early as 3 a.m. There are currently about 600 homes without power, down from initial reports of several thousand.
Mayor Rob Ford tweeted earlier that the outages will likely effect many traffic signals, and cautioned drivers to be wary.
