Fire crews responded to a two-alarm blaze on Monarch Park Avenue this afternoon, dousing the belongings of an apparent hoarder.

Twelve trucks and nearly 50 firefighters were on the scene in East York on Friday. Toronto Fire Services says it found the windows of the house boarded up, and a great deal of clutter inside.

Firefighters had to cut through a wall to get inside, and had difficulty moving through the house.

The fire, which appears to have started in the basement, was mostly out by mid-afternoon. There was no immediate sign of the homeowner.
