Heather Speed charged with first-degree murder in Markham slaying

York Police charged a woman with first-degree murder and are searching for one more man in connection with the Markham slaying of 28-year-old Aleeya Raza.

Police discovered Raza shortly after 6 a.m. last Friday when they were called to a suburban home on Norbury Drive, near Hwy. 407 and Markham Rd. Police said Raza was outside the house lying on the ground with obvious signs of trauma.

The woman was rushed to hospital, but died of her injuries. York police didn’t release an exact cause of death.

Heather Speed, 34, of Oshawa is charged in connection with the killing. She’s set to appear at a Newmarket court on Thursday.

Police also said they’re searching for a man who they say is known to Speed.

They released no motive in connection with the case.
