RED DEER, Alta. - A young man charged in a fatal collision involving a taxi has pleaded guilty.

A preliminary hearing for Tyler James Wilson was supposed to be held this week in a Red Deer court.

But the 19-year-old has instead pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving causing death.

Jonathon Wood, who was 33, died after the taxi he was in was rear-ended at a Red Deer intersection in November 2013.

Wilson's lawyer told court it was always his client's intention to take responsibility.

Wilson is to return to court sometime in February for sentencing.

The Crown has indicated it plans to withdraw the remaining charge of impaired driving causing death.
