TORONTO - A man who died on a busy highway was a family member of a mother and two children found dead in an apartment last weekend, Toronto police confirmed Wednesday.

Yusuf Osman Abdille, 50, was the husband of Zahra Abdille, 43, and the father of her two sons, Faris, 13, and Zain, 8, they said.

The three bodies were found Saturday in a highrise in the Thorncliffe Park area of Toronto, not long after Yusuf Osman Abdille was fatally hit by a car on the nearby Don Valley Parkway.

Investigators are looking into his possible involvement in the triple homicide.

The cause of deaths has not been released.

Meanwhile, police are not commenting on published reports that the woman fled her abusive husband last year and stayed several weeks at a shelter in east Toronto.

Police said the deaths were the 51st, 52nd and 53rd homicides in the city this year.
