The biggest impact will be at a mill in Iroquois Falls, Ont., that employs 180 people. It will close permanently on Dec. 22.
The other 120 jobs are affected by the permanent closures of paper-making machines in Baie-Comeau, Que., and Clermont, Que.
The Baie-Comeau machine is already idled while the Clermont machine will be permanently closed near the end of January.
The cuts will reduce Resolute's capacity for making newsprint by 465,000 tonnes, including 210,000 at Iroquois Falls.
Resolute says it's coping with a long-term decline demand for several reasons, including market conditions, costs and "ill-founded" campaigning against its forest practices by environmental groups.
In total, Resolute makes pulp, paper and wood products at nearly 40 locations in Canada, the United States and South Korea.
