With the world junior hockey championships just weeks away, this news will come as a relief to Canadians hoping to see the young centre represent his country again.

The Erie Otter star broke a bone in his right hand in a fight in November, and his recovery is expected to take five to six weeks.

McDavid is cleared to skate, shoot, and participate in non-contact practice. He's right on track to be healthy for Canada's first game against Slovakia on Dec. 26 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The news comes on the same day that the New York Rangers announced they would loan forward Anthony Duclair to Team Canada for the World Juniors.
