'Marco Polo' Is Not 'Game Of Thrones': EP Patrick MacManus And Star Olivia Cheng Talk Netflix Series

WATCH: No, 'Marco Polo' Is Not 'Game Of Thrones'

Ever since Netflix announced its latest original series, "Marco Polo," the historical show has been consistently compared to HBO's "Game Of Thrones" by critics. Both shows are lush, with wide, sweeping cinematography, and they have dense casts and complex storylines.

But that's where the similarities end, insists co-executive producer Patrick MacManus.

HuffPost Canada TV caught up with MacManus and Canadian "Marco Polo" star Olivia Cheng in Toronto, and we spoke about the pressures of making a show with the likes of The Weinstein Company, and what "nature" experiences they had shooting. They also clarified why comparing "Marco Polo" to "Game Of Thrones" is doing a disservice to both shows.

"Marco Polo" is available for streaming on Netflix and Netflix Canada starting on December 12.
