Chicago Blackhawks centre Jonathan Toews left Thursday night’s game against the Bruins after getting checked from behind by Boston defenceman Dennis Seidenberg.

While playing the puck in the Bruins’ end, Seidenberg sent Toews head-first into the boards midway through the second period.

Seidenberg was assessed a two-minute boarding penalty.

Toews was shaken but remained on the ice for the 5-on-3 power-play. He then took a two-minute hooking penalty 49 seconds later but didn’t return to the game for precautionary reasons. There has been not update on Toews' condition.

Despite the loss of Toews, the Blackhawks skated to 3-2 victory over the Bruins.
