Parliament Hill security guards to be honoured in special ceremony

House of Commons security guards will have the rare honour of being invited onto the floor of the Chamber this afternoon as part of a special ceremony to pay tribute to their professionalism during Michael Zehaf-Bibeau's attack on Parliament Hill last month. .

House Speaker Andrew Scheer will thank the team on behalf of the House as a whole. The ceremony is scheduled to take place after question period this afternoon. 

Last week, CBC News reported that Zehaf-Bibeau was shot at least once by guards before the final deadly confrontation with Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers.

The day after the attacks, MPs gave Vickers a standing ovation as he carried the Mace into the Chamber at the start of the sitting.
