FREDERICTON - New Brunswick's Liberal government will deliver its first capital budget on Wednesday.

Finance Minister Roger Melanson says there will be an average of $150 million in extra spending annually over the next six years but he wouldn't release any specific figures or details for the coming year.

The Liberals campaigned on a plan to spend an extra $900 million over six years on infrastructure as a way to create jobs and improve the reliability of roads and bridges.

Note to readers: This is a corrected story. A previous version quoted the finance minister as saying there will be about $150 million in extra spending in the upcoming capital budget.
