At least one school in Port Moody remains on lockdown because of a police manhunt on Tuesday morning.

Police in Port Moody are searching for a suspect after an incident at a home near Birchwood Crescent and Fernway Drive.

Police have confirmed they recovered a weapon at the home, following some kind of a fight involving a weapon outside the home. It is not yet clear if the two people involved knew each other.

There are no reports of shots fired but one person suffered minor injuries in the incident, while the other fled and is being sought by police.

Police say the suspect is a white or Middle Eastern man in his 30s.

School lockdown

Initially six schools in the area were placed on lockdown by the district, but by 10 a.m. police said only Aspenwood Elementary School remained under lockdown.

"Schools are functioning as usual and classes are in session, however, the following schools are in a precautionary lock down and access is restricted at this time," said a statement issued by School District 43.

The schools placed under lockdown originally were Heritage Woods Secondary, Eagle Mountain Middle, Aspenwood Elementary, Anmore Elementary, Pleasantside Elementary and Heritage Mountain Elementary.
