Andrew Hammond, Binghamton Senators Goalie, Pulled After Allowing 3 Goals In 21 Seconds

GONE IN 36 SECONDS

A minor hockey goaltender made AHL history on Wednesday, though definitely not in the way he hoped.

Binghamton Senators goalie Andrew Hammond was pulled 36 seconds into a game against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, after allowing three goals in 21 seconds, The Toronto Sun reported.

The tally matched a record set by the Hershey Bears when they scored three goals in 21 seconds in a game versus the Cleveland Barons in 1962, tweeted Phantoms broadcaster Bob Rotruck.

"My first shift of the game was 10 seconds long and we had] two goals," Phantoms player Andrew Gordon, who scored one of the three goals, told the team's site. "And it didn't feel like we did anything yet."

Hammond, a 26-year-old goaltender from Surrey, B.C., was signed to a two-year, entry-level contract by the Ottawa Senators in 2013 and has played all but one game with Binghamton, its minor league affiliate.

After this performance, it's fair to question whether he'll ever have a chance with the big club again.
