Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for the greater Montreal region, including Laval, Longueuil and Châteauguay.

While the rain in southwestern Quebec is expected to turn to regular rain overnight and into Wednesday, the freezing rain may continue for longer in regions surrounding the St-Lawrence, Ottawa and Saguenay rivers.

Transports Québec and the provincial automobile insurance board (SAAQ) are warning drivers to take extra precautions on the road.

At the Montreal-Trudeau airport, most flights are taking off as scheduled. However, several flights heading to Toronto City, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Quebec City have been cancelled.

A small handful of flights out of the Ottawa airport have also been cancelled or delayed.
