A suspicious death that happened in Longueuil over the weekend has been confirmed by police as a homicide.

A 53-year-old man of Asian origin was killed inside his apartment in a fourplex on Jacques-Cartier Boulevard on Saturday.

Police arrived at the apartment around 11 p.m. after a family member called 911.

Const. Tommy Lacroix of Longueuil police said the family member went to the victim's apartment after not hearing from him for some time.

Signs of violence were found on the victim’s body, said Lacroix. Police believe the victim was hit with a blunt object.

An autopsy will be performed in the next day or so to determine the cause of the man's death and how long he had been in the apartment before being found.

The man wasn't known to Longueuil police and he had no criminal record.

Police are still looking for suspects and a motive.

It is the second homicide of 2014 in Longueuil.
