Gift cards: Spend, re-gift or ignore?

We asked, you answered. Now that holiday season is mostly behind us, there is a good chance you were given at least one gift card — possibly from a store that's not selling anything you want. 

Frances Ho had the same problem. That's why she came up with CardSwap, an online company that pays cash for gift cards. 

"The only other option was selling on Kijiji or Craigslist, which can be very tiring," Ho told CBC News. (Click the video to see the full story.) 

The company pays between 60 and 92 per cent of the card's value. 

Money Mart drew criticism when it made a similar, half-price offer earlier this year. Walmart is testing a similar offer via its U.S. website.
