Here's a few New Year's celebrations going on in the city tonight:- One of the city's biggest parties will take place at Nathan Phillips Square starting at 8 p.m. The free event will feature skating, live music and a countdown to midnight led by Mayor John Tory. An eight-minute fireworks display will begin at midnight. Full details about the event are here.

- There's also a five-kilometre New Year's Eve run through the Liberty Village area. Details of that event are here.
The TTC will be free this New Year's starting at 7 p.m. through to 7 a.m. on New Year's Day. Subways will run until about 4 a.m. Click here or full details about the TTC's New Year's Eve service. On Thursday the TTC operates on a Sunday schedule.

What's open, what's closed
The LCBO, The Beer Store and most shopping malls will close at 6 p.m. Wednesday night. Many will remain closed on Thursday or open later.Suggest a correction
