Second boy, 14, charged in string of violent purse-snatchings

Toronto police have arrested a second 14-year-old boy in connection with a string of violent downtown purse-snatchings that happened on Sunday afternoon and early evening.

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, faces two counts of robbery.

On Tuesday police announced similar charges against another 14-year-old boy in connection with four robberies that  happened in the space of a few hours on Sunday afternoon in the area of Bathurst and Front Streets.

The robberies, which targeted women, were violent. According to a police news release, in one of the robberies a gun was fired into the ground. In another, a woman was put in a choke hold and dragged along the ground.
