At least eight fire trucks bringing dozens of firefighters responded to the fire, but there is no word yet on the size of the fire or the extent of it.
Smoke billowed out of the building, but that seems to have stopped by about 11 a.m. Crews had the blaze under control by about 11:10 a.m., but continued to put out hot spots.
Crews are concentrating their efforts near the roof of the building.
The station is at 1070 Old Sambro Road; that area is blocked off.
It's a volunteer station and was not staffed when the fire started. All three trucks inside were saved. One of the rescued trucks was then used to fight the fire.
