WINNIPEG - Manitoba voters will be going to the polls on April 19, 2016.

Elections Manitoba says the province's fixed election date was changed from October 6, 2015 to avoid conflict with the federal election.

Under Manitoba law, voting day would change automatically if the federal election date didn't change by Jan. 1.

Voters are expected to go to the polls in October in the federal election.

Manitoba's political parties have already begun nominating candidates in anticipation of the provincial vote.
