Man Wearing Only A T-Shirt Found Dead In Toronto's Yonge And Dundas Square

A man died early Tuesday morning after being found wearing only a T-shirt and jeans in a bus shelter in Toronto's answer to Times Square.

The man was discovered without vital signs in Yonge and Dundas Square around 6 a.m. amid Toronto's first serious cold spell of the season. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A police officer at the scene told Newstalk 1010 that the cold "undoubtedly" contributed to the death. The temperature dropped to a low of -14 C overnight.

Officers in the Square said they knew the man and that he had a "troubled past", according to the Canadian Press. They said he had sometimes been homeless.

A police spokesperson told CP the man was in his 50s but that no more details will be released until family members are notified.

The CBC's Tony Smyth captured photos at the scene.

The incident comes after a homeless man was found dead in a parking lot in Toronto's west end on Monday, according to The Globe and Mail.

Police told the Globe the man, who was in his 60s, lived in an abandoned delivery truck.
