Cartierville tenants left in the cold for weeks

Housing advocates say tenants living in a multi-storey apartment building on Ranger Street are struggling to stay warm after weeks without heat.

The building on Ranger Street has had problems with its heating system in the past.

Patrice Sansregret, a community organizer with tenants rights group CLAC, said he learned about the problem after receiving calls from tenants in the building.

"It's the same story over and over again," he said. "It's like people are living in a third world country."

The building changed owners on Jan. 1.

The new owners say they were made aware of the heating issue just yesterday.

They are now on site with firefighters and housing activists.
