CHILLIWACK, B.C. - Homicide investigators are in Chilliwack, B.C., looking into a suspicious death.

UPDATE, 2:40 p.m.: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has identified the victim as 39-year-old Chilliwack resident Stuart David Ellis, who was known to police. The death is not believed to be random, and investigators say there is no concern for public safety.

Mounties say they were called to the scene of a car crash at around 11 p.m. Monday and found a man dead inside a vehicle.

But police say his fatal injuries were inconsistent with the crash and have now handed the case over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

Officers say the man will not be identified until his family is notified.
