Man in pickup truck tries to grab woman on Whitby street

A man in a pickup truck pulled alongside a woman in Whitby, Ont., last night, before police say he opened his passenger-side door and tried to grab her.

Durham Regional Police say the attempted abduction happened in the Glen Hill Drive and Dundas Street area at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The woman managed to get away.

Police say the pickup truck was last seen turning north onto Bowman Avenue from Dundas Street.

The man in the pickup truck is described as a 30-to-40-year-old white male, who weighs approximately 180 pounds and has short, dark brown hair. He was clean-shaven and wore a dark jacket, which was possibly leather.

Police say the truck was small, white and had two doors. It may be a 1999-2001 Ford Ranger or Mazda. It had black bumpers and a grill.
