Torill Kove, Dean DeBlois nominated for animated films at Oscars

Quebec will be well represented at the 2015 Oscars.

Dean DeBlois, originally from Aylmer, Que., received an Academy Award nomination today for best animated feature film for How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Jay Baruchel, from Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood, is the voice of the lead character in the film.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 won for best animated feature film at the Golden Globes last Sunday.

Torill Kove, a Norwegian-born Montreal film director and animator, was nominated for her animated short film Me and My Moulton.

This is her third Oscar nomination. 

She won the 2007 Oscar for the animated short The Danish Poet.

The Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 22.
