A man who allegedly chucked a snake at Tim Hortons employees over a sandwich order last month wants his reptile back.
Luke Apooch admits the stunt he and his friend Chris Cook pulled was “stupid and immature,” adding he’s working on an apology to the Saskatoon workers he scared, The Star Phoenix reported Thursday.
“I am truly sorry that I have done such an irresponsible and ridiculous act,” the 20-year-old Regina resident told the newspaper.
“I have nothing against Tim Hortons or anything at all.”
The trouble started on Dec. 8 when the duo placed a complicated sandwich order at a Saskatoon Timmies. Apparent video footage of the incident shows the two men drinking beer and cackling their way through the order.
Near the end of the video, one of them declares, “I’m going to release my snake,” before the reptile is pulled out and tossed over the counter.
Workers fled the store in fear, according to Saskatoon police. The snake was deemed non-poisonous and the two men were arrested nearby.
Both are facing charges of mischief and causing a disturbance. Police took temporary custody of the reptile and have named him “Outlaw,” according to CBC News.
Police say they intend to set release the snake into the wild once winter passes.
Apooch told the broadcaster his name for the snake is “Patches O’Houlihan” and admitted he’s currently unfit to care for the reptile. But he’s not ready to let it go just yet.
He explained he wants the snake back so he can be the one to set it free come springtime.
