Lions Gate Bridge project to impact overnight traffic between Vancouver and North Shore

01/19/2015 06:06 EST | Updated 03/21/2015 05:59 EDT
Anyone using Metro Vancouver's Lions Gate Bridge is warned to expect lane closures and possible delays overnight starting Monday night.

The delays are part of the ongoing work to replace 25 joints and 40 bearings along the 670 metre approach span on the north end of the bridge.

Starting Monday, single-lane closures can be expected from 7 p.m. PT onward and two-lane closures can be expected after 10 p.m.

All lanes will be re-open by 5:30 a.m. daily. There are no closures scheduled overnight Friday and Saturday nights.

Drivers are advised to expect delays and to check www.DriveBC.ca for current conditions and web cam views.

When the work is completed in February, it is expected to reduce the noise created by vehicles crossing the joints and reduce obstructions for cyclists.

Updates on the project are being posted online.
