Christy Clark Trolls Toronto Maple Leafs Fans On Twitter

B.C. Premier Trolls Leafs Nation

Toronto Maple Leafs fans have just about had it with their club, after the team scored only two goals in a five-game losing streak.

So they're taking a queue from Oilers fans and tossing jerseys on the ice.

Three men were charged with "engag[ing] in a prohibited activity" after at least three jerseys hit the ice in the Leafs' loss 4-1 to the last-place Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night.

One jersey was tossed during play, The Toronto Star reported.

The incident helped spawn a #Jerseygate hashtag. And B.C. Premier Christy Clark, an enthusiastic Vancouver Canucks fan, couldn't resist throwing some fuel on the fire.

Her post was hailed by at least one major sports journalist.

But it was also derided by others who reminded her of Canucks' fans own transgressions.

Yeah ... Canucks fans really have nothing to say to that.

This isn't the first time that the Maple Leafs have been invoked in B.C. politics.

The B.C. NDP's loss to the Liberals in the 2013 election was compared to the Leafs' own playoff failure that same year.
