Mary Ann Estanislao says there's a secret to her recent $15 million lottery win.

“I only ever buy one ticket,” said the Edmonton resident. “I believe that if you’re meant to win, you only need one.”

Estanislao's ticket matched all seven numbers in Oct. 24, 2014's Lotto Max draw — making her the only winner in Canada, not to mention an instant multi-millionaire.

Estanislao says when she approached her family about her winnings, they had no problem believing her.

“I often talk about all the things I’d do if I ever won the lotto,” she said in a news release. “So when I asked my daughter to sit down because I had something to tell her, she asked right away, ‘Did you win the lottery?’”

Estanislao said she will use the money to pay off her mortgage and travel. She is also considering donations to her favourite charitable causes.

Estanislao bought her $5 quick pick ticket from Winston’s City Center in Commerce Place, located at 10150 Jasper Ave N.W. Her winning numbers were 8, 27, 30, 32, 34, 35 and 42.
